The Hills, Colourful Courtyard Ensuite
As the final room to be renovated in a thoughtfully updated 1980s contemporary home, this ensuite was envisioned as a bold, luxurious retreat, full of life, texture, and light. The client’s brief was clear: no white, plenty of colour, and a design that would both complement the rest of the house and feel entirely unique.
To achieve this, we transformed an adjoining walled garden courtyard into part of the bathroom, doubling the footprint and bringing nature directly into the space. The curved exterior wall became a defining architectural element, now seamlessly integrated into the design and filled with natural light throughout the day.
The ensuite features:
A vibrant, unexpected palette with rich colour and layered textures
No direct line of sight from the master bedroom for added privacy
Generous storage, sleek surfaces, and ease of movement
Beautiful ambient lighting for evening use
A variety of materials for a tactile, multi-sensory experience
A luxurious yet highly functional layout tailored to everyday living
Spacious, stylish, and striking, this ensuite is a true reflection of the client’s personality and the final jewel in their renovated home.
