Sydney Apartment Kitchen Renovation

Modern design tailored for comfort and accessibility.

Mature-aged clients approached us with a kitchen concept already drawn by their architect daughter. The project involved renovating the kitchen in their 20-year-old Sydney apartment, and their brief included a breakfast bar, wall oven and microwave, double-bowl sink, and an appliance zone, all while preserving the existing tiled flooring.

During our initial consultation, we reviewed the proposed layout and raised a number of practical concerns: the overhead cabinets were too high, the fridge placement against a wall restricted access, and a butler’s pantry, while appealing, simply didn’t suit the apartment’s scale or functionality.

After discussing these limitations, the clients were open to a completely new design direction. By reworking the floorplan, we opened up the kitchen space dramatically, creating a light-filled, expansive look and feel that surpassed both the original and proposed layouts.

A key part of the design process was personalisation: we took client-specific measurements for bench height and overhead reach. With mobility front of mind, we integrated wide drawers throughout the kitchen for easier access and better organisation.

The final result? A sleek, modern, and highly functional kitchen tailored to the clients’ lifestyle, combining streamlined aesthetics with thoughtful design choices that support both comfort and independence.
